To-Do List FAQ

I requested that my transcript/recommendation letter (or other material) be sent weeks ago. It's still showing up as a missing item in my To-Do list.

As we approach our first deadline, please be aware that application submission is at its peak, and our records managers are very busy preparing all applications and materials for review. After an item is received by our office, it may take 4-6 weeks before it is matched with your application and removed from your To-Do List.

Please also be aware that if your application has been submitted (or postmarked if you are using our paper application) by November 2 you will be considered for our first deadline. Be sure to send the other required items as soon as possible. Over the next few weeks, if we find that we are missing any item from your application, we will be in touch with you through email to let you know.

If you still show an item in your to-do-list 4 weeks after you know it has been sent, please contact us at (919) 966-3621 or email us at unchelp@admissions.unc.edu. And if your email address or other contact information changes after you submit your application, please update them on your MyUNC portal immediately.

We recognize that this time of year can be stressful, especially as you balance your college applications with busy senior schedules. We appreciate your patience with our new online system, and we are honored by your application to us. If there is anything we can do to help you, please do not hesitate to ask.

  1. On my " To Do List" it asks for my transcripts from the two high schools I attended- one in Florida for 4 months as a freshman and one from my high school here in NC. I requested my transcript to be sent through CFNC which will only be from my NC high school I attend currently.
I know this transcript has ALL my grades, including the classes I took in Florida as a freshman. Do I still need to request a seperate transcript from the Florida high school I attended?

    Thanks, Max

  2. I sent my ACT/SAT scores and transcript before I completed my application. This is not a problem, correct?

  3. Hi Max,
Yep, your NC transcript will be just fine. You can disregard the request on your To-Do list for the FL transcript. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks!

    Hi Kathleen,
That's not a problem at all. We store all the information that we receive for pending applications and match it up with your application after you submit. Thanks for the question.

  4. I completed my application and submitted it on Sunday night, but for some reason it is showing up as incomplete on my UNC portal. I also got an email sayig that the university receieved the application. What does this mean for my application?

  5. Hi there,
If you're getting that message, it means that you successfully submitted your application. The reason it is "incomplete" is because we have not processed all the supplemental items that will be included with your application--such as the recommendation, transcript, etc. If you've already sent these items in, just give us a little while to get them processed and added to your application. If we're still missing anything, we'll let you know by sending you an email.

    Thanks!
    Julie
